Sorry for the lack of postings here. Our household has been busy with sickness, lack of sleep, and, that's right, you guessed it... basketball!

Allow me to take a few steps back and give you a quick update on the last couple of weeks. We have had a lot of fun but also had some looooong days/nights too.

I'll start with something fun. Our very own Coach Tonagel has led his team to another (3 in 5 years) conference championship. I am so proud of him, his staff, and the players for such a tremendous accomplishment. This year was especially special because it was our first outright championship. Our last 2 had been co-championships and this one was all ours! Greg works so hard and cares so deeply for his players that I absolutely LOVE to see this success for them. Here they are celebrating after a close win versus rival Taylor University. Way to go Wildcats!
And now for something not so fun... Jace had not been sleeping well, eating well, or smiling. I finally took him to the doctor to find that he had 2 awful ear infections, one in each ear! Along with infected ears, he was awfully congested and was suffering from a bad cough, runny nose, and fever. He was very clingy and very difficult to sooth. He wasn't napping during the day or sleeping at night. They put him on strong antibiotics that almost immediately began helping. Praise the Lord for medicine! Here is my baby waiting in the waiting room at the doctors. Poor baby...
The combination of crazy hormones, a cranky baby, and a stomach that now rests on my lap had caused me to become a mom who I didn't want to be. I hardly recognized myself! I was growing so impatient and not handling the stresses of life very well. I am thankful that our difficult time has now passed and we can remember how much we have to be thankful for!

And now back to something fun... Did I mention that the medicine almost gave him immediate relief? This was taken the very next morning! I had almost forgotten what a happy kid he was!

And this morning, Coach and Jace got some father/son time in at the gym while I visited with my friend Tiffany, her newborn son Joshua, and her sweet sis-in-laws. It was a win-win situation. They were able to get in some much needed guy time while I was able to get in some much needed girl time. Jace got to run around the gym, the office, and eat with Daddy and some of the basketball players for lunch in the school cafeteria. Does this boy know how good his life is?
And here we are with new parents Jeff and Tiff, and baby Joshua! He is sooo stinkin' adorable!
Oh, and did I mention that I am still pregnant and waiting to meet this new precious life?! I will be 39 weeks Monday and look forward to finding out if my body has made any progress. I'm not holding my breath... I just want Coach to be there for the birth! Please join me in praying that he will come before Greg has to leave next Sunday.

Will try and keep you updated on any Tonagel news!

Bye for now.
Team Tonagel

Congratulations Clark Family!

Congratulations to our dear friends Jeff and Tiffany on the birth of their son, Joshua Olausen Clark. He was born Friday, February 19th at 12:21 pm and weighed in at 6 lbs. 12 ounces. We are so grateful for a safe and healthy delivery! We can't wait to see these two as parents--they will be awesome at it! And we absolutely CAN'T wait for our baby boys to meet soon (hopefully very soon). Does this mean our weekly family meals together are about to get crazy with 3 little boys?! They will have so much fun! You can see more pictures and a more detailed account of her labor and delivery by clicking here. Love you Jeff, Tiff, and Joshua!

Random Thoughts

I am getting to that anxious point in my pregnancy and I am ready when he is! I know what to expect this time around and want to get it over with and meet my sweet baby! I think Jace is ready to meet "Bebe" too!
I love bread. Whoever is on a low-carb diet is totally missing out.
We set up Jace's "big boy" bed. He is not ready for it quite yet but we are slowly introducing him to it. He loves reading on it with Dad!
We had two games this week. Both in overtime. Lost one. Won one. Phew.
My mom came last week and we took advantage of the live-in babysitter! Greg and I went out a few times and enjoyed the time alone. Our lives are about to change big time. Thanks Mommy!

Jace is talking up a storm. He can basically repeat any word we ask him to say. Every time he goes #2 he immediately runs up to one of us and announces “I dink” (I stink).

I got my hair highlighted and I love being blonde again.

I woke up this morning and wished Greg a Happy Valentine’s Day. He responded “Thanks but Valentine’s Day was yesterday.” I thought, “Well if yesterday was Valentine’s Day then why didn’t I get so much as a V. Day wish?” I guess I won’t be expecting flowers or candy since Valentine’s Day is now February 13th and has already passed!

I love Sunday’s at home with my family.

Have a great week friends!

Sleepless in Marion

"Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer." Psalm 4:1

It's been a rough couple of days in the Tonagel household. My little guy has been sick and suffering from a bad ear infection, sinus infection, and fever. He has had a few sleepless nights (along with me) and we are all a little on the cranky/irritable side. I can't think of something more challenging and testing than having a sick, hurting baby in your arms and not being able to console him. I am now 36 weeks pregnant, my emotions are running high, I am uncomfortable, and did I mention sleep deprived? Anyway, I'll cut to the chase... last night was the third night in a row of nightly screaming. He won't sleep in my arms or in bed with us, just screamed miserably for hours. I finally got him settled down reading books and drinking warmed milk but there were no signs of him going back to sleep. I was going to give it another shot and put him down in his bed. He screamed louder than I have ever heard him scream for about 10 minutes. I sobbed outside his door (kind of like Ali on the Bachelor in the hotel hallway) and prayed to Jesus asking him this:

Father, I know I don't deserve it but will you please relax my baby right now? Take any pain away that he is feeling and relax his body. Close his eyes right now and put him to sleep for the night. I am begging you Lord, please hear my prayer. I don't know what else to do! I know you are almighty and merciful. In Jesus' name hear my prayer.

I went on to make a deal with God that if he answered my prayer that I would make sure he got a major shout-out on my blog. Listen people, like I said, I was desperate. So that's exactly what I'm doing...

No joke--immediately stopped crying, was sound asleep, and didn't hear a peep until late this morning. Coincidence? No way. Just a loving God who saw a mommy in desperate need of some sleep.

Thankfully my mom is in town visiting, probably not what she had in mind for her vacation, but she has been a lifesaver! She has been so gracious and willing to help me in whatever I need. I am so thankful to have such a loving, giving, servant for a mom.

Here is a picture of my best gal Tiff and I who are due just 4 days apart. I can't wait for our babies to meet!

We have a big game tonight versus St. Francis University. I wonder if God would honor my prayer for a victory. Hmm...

One tired mommy

I have never been a pregnant woman to make her husband run out and get a chili cheese dog late at night or grab a big ice cream sundae with all the fixings. I don't crave certain foods when I'm pregnant. I just love food. Any kind of food. And currently I have the worst sweet tooth EVER (I am usually more of a salt lover than sweet) and I can't seem to control myself. My weakness at the moment--snickers bars. I guess my son is having sympathy cravings for me too. Check out him begging for some candy at the ball game. Nothing like 2 pregnant women chowing down on chocolate bars. Oh, we're pathetic!

SO big!

Well another weekend has come and gone which means we are one week closer to this little baby arriving. We had a wonderful weekend which we have much to be thankful for! Greg's basketball players' mothers coordinated a surprise shower for Tiffany and I after the game on Saturday (thankfully we came out victorious so EVERYONE was in good spirits). I was so shocked and overwhelmed by their act of generosity! They went in on a special gift for us and probably the only thing we had left to purchase before Baby Bro arrived--a double stroller! It was perfect and just what we needed (and wanted). Along with the "cadillac of strollers" as it has been named, we also received an adorable diaper cake and SEVERAL new books for Baby signed personally by the players and their families. I blubbered my way through the shower and thankfully, I have my pregnancy hormones to blame this on. I can act like this is SO out of the ordinary and that I never cry (even though The Saved by the Bell prom episode where Kelly dumps Zack for her manager Jeff at The Max still makes me cry--prego or no prego). Thanks all for making it such a wonderful day!
This is the closest thing I am getting to having a girl for a while. I couldn't resist when his little girlfriend came over to play the other day!
Big brother! How big is Jace?
SO big!
And finally my 35 week belly. Holy moly. How big is Mommy? SO big!
My mom, grandmother, 2 aunts, and 2 uncles will be arriving here Friday night and joining us over the weekend for some visiting and of course, a basketball game! We can't wait!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Soon to be Mama of 2!
