Baby Shower

My very sweet girlfriends threw me a baby shower this past Saturday. I was so overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and kindness towards our growing family. I could barely hold back the tears of joy! It was a perfect day! The menu was delicious and the games were a blast. Everyone designed their own, personal onesie for Baby Tonagel and I got to pick my 2 favorites! We received a bassinet, stroller, monitor, changing pad, blankets, books, clothes, toys, diapers, bath tub and supplies, and much more! I am finally feeling prepared for the baby's arrival. The nursery is really coming together well and all the major purchases have been made! Phew...

The baby continues to grow bigger at a steady rate. My last doctor's apt. was great! The baby had a heart rate of 130 and my uterus measured 34 centimeters which is slightly on the large side, but still normal. He/she weighs in at about 4 1/2 pounds and approximately 17 inches long.

We have a busy August ahead of us! Greg is heading to the Dominican Republic with his basketball team and days later, we will be heading to Rhode Island for my sisters wedding. The weeks are flying by and before we know it, I will be full term! Greg and I are getting really anxious to meet our child!

The countdown is on!

Over the fourth of July, I attended an all girls weekend at the Lake of the Ozarks! We had a blast! We held a bridal shower there for my sister, Lauren, and they threw a surprise baby shower for me! I was so excited to receive some baby necessities that I have been putting off buying. My sweet sisters bought us our carseat and many other things like diapers, books, blankets, and onesies. I was so thankful to receive these gifts--I felt so undeserving of such generous gifts!

As far as the pregnancy goes, everything is going great. Other than an occasional ankle swelling, I am really enjoying this part of my pregnancy. The baby is constantly moving--I love it! I really enjoy laying down to read a book, and just watching my belly wave back and forth. My last doctor's visit reported that I was measuring in at 34 centimeters and the baby's heart rate was 130. I went ahead and bought blue paint for the nursery since I am convinced that this baby is a boy(don't worry, pink also looks really cute with the blue we picked out). In the next couple weeks, we will really focus on getting the nursery ready for the little guy(or girl?) We have decided on a boy's name, but a girl's name is still up for discussion.

How our baby's growing:
By now, our baby weighs 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long. The baby will gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair or at least respectable peach fuzz.
